Thin-layer chromatography of urinary carbohydrates. A comparative evaluation of procedures.

چکیده
Ten procedures for thin-layer chromatography of carbohydrates in urine were compared. The procedures differ considerably in their sensitivity and ability to separate sugars of clinical importance. A procedure was developed that permitted several sugars to be identified in normal urine samples without prior desalting or concentration. Celite was used as adsorbent, anisaldehyde as location reagent. The procedure is simple and reproducible, and is readily modifed for quantification of sugars by thin-layer densitometry.

متن کاملUnidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography of Salicylic Acid Derivatives on Boric Acid-Impregnated Plates in Drugs Studies
A unidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography system for the separation of salicylic acid and its derivatives (sulfosalicylic acid and Aspirin) has been developed. The separation was successfully using a solvent system of chloroform-methanol-water-ammonium hydroxide 120:75:6:2 (V/V) as mobile phase on TLC plates impregnated with boric acid. The method is based on different behavior of investigated...
متن کاملThin Layer Chromatography for the Separation and Analysis of Acidic Carbohydrates
Thin layer chromatography (TLC) is routinely used by synthetic organic chemists and natural products chemists working on a variety of types of molecules. Carbohydrate chemists and biochemists in the past largely relied on paper chromatography for rapid and inexpensive analysis. Carbohydrates are highly polar molecules and often require derivatization to be analyzed by TLC. Acidic carbohydrates ...
متن کاملThe Lipophilicity Examination of Some ACE inhibitors and Hydrochlorothiazide on Cellulose in RP Thin-Layer Chromatography
In this assay, the evaluation of lipophilicity of four ACE-inhibitors and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) with RP-TLC on cellulose layers was described using three binary solvent systems. The selected ACE inhibitors had sufficiently different structures which can indicate the method suitability for their lipophilicity evaluation as the model substances in comparison with HCTZ. In addition, the linea...
متن کاملQuantitative urinary excretion of unmetabolised N tau-[Me-14C] methylhistidine by the common ringtail possum (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) marsupialia.
Six common ringtail possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) were intravenously injected with a standard dose of radioactive 3-Methylhistidine (N tau-[Me-14C]MeH). The dose was rapidly and quantitatively excreted by the possums. More than 90% of radioactivity was recovered within 3 days. Thin layer chromatography and mass spectroscopy showed that 97% of recovered radioactivity was associated with unm...
